Short Scenes 6-9-13

<jake2099>: So! Sinon and Goldman are at the booth at Chemical Wedding and Montesquieu has just introduced himself. He pulls a chair over and sits in it backward, resting his arms against the back. “We’ve heard a little about what happened in Seattle. Word travels fast. You have my condolences, Goldman.” To Sinon: “And your cabal distinguished yourselves again.”
<ppups>: “Thank you. It’s been a difficult time.” She pauses. “I’m actually trying to get a handle on what’s happening in Vancouver.”
<ppups>: (remind me of timeline… this is a Monday night?
<ppups>: How long since Seattle?)
<jake2099>: (hrm ask me easier things >.< I need to dig through the logs. we’ve got a tangled timeline.)
<misteranthropy>: Sinon nods at the compliment. “We simply fulfilled our duties as best we could.”
<ppups>: (lets just assume its been like 5 days)
<ppups>: (okay provosts are the #2s and the hierarch is the head of all the order heads)
<ppups>: (what are the order heads called)
<jake2099>: (ah hah it’s a wednesday)
<jake2099>: (well the order heads have different titles within the order, like epopt, but in BC the order heads are also the Councilors. in most other places those are separate)
<ppups>: “We spoke with the Councilors, and they seemed to react as one might expect. But it’s been days and I haven’t heard anything further. I’m a little antsy and I don’t know what to expect.”
<jake2099>: (every consilium has a quirk and that is mine. i wanted to highlight the order conflicts without having you guys report to an order councillor and a separate order head)
<ppups>: Composed in her elegant dress, sipping whiskey in a bar booth, Goldman looks anything but antsy.
<jake2099>: He chuckles at Sinon. “Don’t be modest. Or at least, be only as modest as the occasion demands. You’re earning capital. Now’s an excellent time to begin thinking how you might spend it.”
<ell>: (Karin Dreijer Andersson makes perfect music for magering)
<ppups>: (shit it’s a dress)
<ppups>: (errr
<ppups>: it’s not a dress it’s a suit)
<ell>: (skirtsuit?)
<ppups>: (someone take a note to fix that in post)
<jake2099>: To Goldman: “I understand your feelings. As the Hierarch’s Provost I’ve been privy to a few of their discussions and…I can say that the gears are turning. We’ve been in touch with San Francisco and Portland. Seattle’s survivors will be found, assisted – and their dead avenged. For once we have something we all can agree on.”
<ppups>: (yes! it was not specified but now it is def a skirtsuit)
<ell>: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBAzlNJonO8
<ppups>: Goldman scoffs. “Nice to hear the orders get along as well here as they did in Seattle.”
<ell>: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W10F0ezCTIQ
<misteranthropy>: (nice ell, fever ray joined my mage playlist!)
<ell>: (the knife should too)
<jake2099>: “We have our differences. It would be easier to overcome them if we had more men and women of…vision. Forgive me for being forward, but you’re clearly ambitious. If you were to stay in Seattle – add your strength to the Ladder’s – well, there is room to move upward quickly her.”
<jake2099>: *here
<ell>: (fever ray is her solo project, the knife is with her brother)
<ppups>: (sed —in-place ‘s:Seattle:Vancouver jake.txt)
<ppups>: ( i am listening to your musix ell)
<ppups>: (i concur with your assessment)
<desc>: (I put that fever ray song on repeat so often <3><3><3)><ppups>: "Oh… Yes, I’d already decided to stay in Vancouver. One of the councilors told me to get in touch with… Quant, I think it was? Supposed to be able to get me a sleeper job in town."
<ppups>: Goldman glances at Sinon before continuing.
<misteranthropy>: Sinon smiles at Montesquieu’s comments. “My cabal mates and I have invited Goldman to join us. Provided the consillium chooses to approve when next we meet.”
<misteranthropy>: He sips a bit from his wine.
<jake2099>: “Yes. She and my partner Volcker specialize in clearing out red tape, getting our new members settled. Sometimes their resources are a bit…taxed…to find a Sleeping job and paperwork for someone who spent forty years in an Awakened temple in the Gobi Desert, but for you? I suspect it will be seamless.”
<jake2099>: Off Sinon’s remark: “Oh, excellent. That’s better than I had dared hope.” He smiles warmly. “You’ve already made one right move, Goldman. This cabal is going places. It was just months ago you four were strangers to me…more Awakened driftwood. And now look at you.”
<misteranthropy>: (btw jake, i added stuff to my playlist awhile ago. i dig this for the game since it is by vancouver-ites and shot there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOUAOAgThaw&list=PL7IXDOQNCUyPfCVeCca1I0HWBSgvSbNOf )
<ell>: (Friday is such the odd one out in that cabal)
<jake2099>: (oooh excellent)
<jake2099>: (Ell: she really is)
<thomamelas>: (Yeah, she kinda is.)
<ppups>: “I’ve accepted the invitation, of course. And I won’t deny the ambition. But part of it is just trying to get people /moving./ The degree of talent that sits unused… it boggles the mind.”
<misteranthropy>: (it’s like they just went… huh she has money so she goes in that one?)
<thomamelas>: (It seems like she is in there because of her personal wealth rather then philsophy. I wonder if she has as much old money/new money conflict as BJ will with Goldman.)
<jake2099>: (she knew Volcker in her Sleeper life)
<ppups>: (I forgot Friday has money. Man, it’s got to be interesting for Monty and Janis’s dude to be in the same cabal)
<ell>: (Same with Volcker and Quant)
<ppups>: (Aren’t some of the Councilors in a cabal too? Are they on the same side in the memo & company issue?)
<jake2099>: (Sacerdote and Rattenbury used to be members of the same cabal a couple of decades ago. technically still are, since they haven’t registered as Solitaries. but the other members left or died)
<jake2099>: Montesquieu grimaces. “It’s the fundamental problem of our kind. All these people who could be building a new order, overthrowing the Seers, storming the Ladder – and we settle for less, and imagine ourselves wiser for doing so.”
<ppups>: “Well, that’s our job, right? To organize everybody. So what are the big issues here?”
<ell>: (Speaking of musicians and Vancouverites, I bet Grimes is magic)
<ppups>: Goldman finishes her drink and motions for another.
<ppups>: Turning to Sinon, she asks, “What’s your take? You said we’ve got no chance going straight at the Seers, right? So what’s the plan? If you could get everyone moving in the same direction, what would you have them do?”
<desc>: (oh totally huh. which path and faction, though.)
<jake2099>: (brb phone)
<ell>: (desc it probably changes every week)
<misteranthropy>: “Here? Now? ‘Milady’ has at a limited ability to prognosticate our moves. I would work to… muddy… her vision. Turn the Seers upon themselves. Let them be the ones whose inability to cooperate is a hindrance.”
<jake2099>: (back! sorry, that was my dad)
<ell>: (sorry it was your dad)
<jake2099>: ( )
<jake2099>: (my dad randomly mentioned the other day that he has been watching Venture Bros)
<jake2099>: (he is so weird)
<ppups>: (i have to decide what to spend more experiences on… right now the front runner is matter 5 so i can turn ground under somebody to a pool of acid… at range.)
<jake2099>: (dude that would be boss!)
<thomamelas>: (I’ve been pondering how you kill a fate mage. So far the gap in their armor is a lack of techincal understanding.)
<ell>: (What if it’s a very technically-oriented fate mage?)
<misteranthropy>: (hmmm. get a true fae to do it?)
<thomamelas>: (Depends on their techincal specilization.)
<ppups>: (usually the trick for future-readers is to base what you do on something they do after they predict the future so they can’t predict it)
<ppups>: (but can’t you blind someone to their fate with fate magic of your own?)
<ppups>: (i havent looked into it but that seemed like something u would be able to do)
<jake2099>: (anything else you wanted tocover, or is that /scene?)
