At the Edge of All Things

Session 8
Mysterium Map, Part II

Last time, Elithora and Aurelia were asked by the Mysterium to obtain a copy of a map drawn in the eighteenth century, depicting southern British Columbia and its environs, but also secretly charting the paths of ley lines as they existed at the time (the idea being to chart how they’ve shifted since, as part of the project to unearth Saguenay).

The map had been in the possession of a local mage, but thanks to poor recordkeeping he had died a couple decades ago and his estate was sold at auction without any local mages being aware of it.

Session 7
Bleakscale, part III

The still-unnamed cabal has been investigating the abyssal infection that has been moving through Vancouver’s homeless and indigent population.  With the help of Jude, a researcher from the Mysterium, they conducted an extended scrying ritual that yielded up the location of Gerard, Minerva’s ex-husband and the organizer of Arrowsmith’s cabal. Gerard is on a boat in the river south of downtown Vancouver.  He used the apostate cabal to gather information that may help unravel its source.  And the four mages are at a locked marina gate on a weeknight.

There is a small selection of boats at the marina – a hot pink cigarette boat, a covered pontoon boat, and a pair of aluminum canoes.

Session 6
Bleakscale, part II

Last time, the as-of-yet unnamed cabal teamed up with Jude, a member of the Mysterium, to continue the investigation into the Abyssal disease that’s been working its way through Vancouver’s homeless.  Thinking that the apostate cabal (who go by the name the Scarlet Pentagram, although that hasn’t come up so far) might have some notes to peruse, Sinon pulled some strings to get an interview with Loki and Arrowsmith.  They were being held at an erstwhile RCMP safehouse by the Guardian Sentinel Rook way out in the boonies.

It turned out that Arrowsmith had been keeping notes, but at the behest of his cabal’s silent partner, Gerard.  Arrowsmith didn’t think his notes were important or relevant but, as you learned from Jude, they actually were.

Session 5
Bleakscale, part I

In the last session, the cabal attended the monthly session of the Consilium, met some new people, and made some waves.  You’ve been formally inducted as a new cabal (sans name for now) and the service you did in retrieving the Tass has raised eyebrows and your profiles.

It’s been four days since then, and Elithora and Aurelia have begun looking into a missing document for the Mysterium with Blackjack’s help.  Sinon has been acclimating himself to the Vancouver Guardians and setting up his Sanctum.

Do you like dub-step?

It is an early summer afternoon a couple of days after the Consilium meeting, and Sinon is sitting in a downtown Starbucks, awaiting the arrival of Jones, who abruptly texted him for a meeting.

Session 4
Welcome to the Working Week

“Now that your picture’s in the paper being rhythmically admired
and you can have anyone that you have ever desired,
all you gotta tell me now is why, why, why, why.
Welcome to the workin’ week.
Oh I know it don’t thrill you, I hope it don’t kill you.
Welcome to the workin’ week.
You gotta do it till you’re through it so you better get to it."
- Elvis Costello

It’s been a few days since four neophyte mages met up for the first time and, working together, recovered a stash of stolen Tass, and that feat has apparently made an impression on their elders, as each of them has specifically been asked to be sure and attend tonight’s Consilium and be prepared to answer questions about their experience.

“Enter.”

David continues to write at his desk as his office door opens.

“Sit Memoranda, I will be with you in a moment.”

False creek at night med
Sinon watches as the cab pulls away from the Pelican Bay Marina. The Guardian straightens his tie and looks out at the nighttime view of Science World. Exactly 60 seconds later he brings his phone up to his ear and signs a rune on the touchscreen. A female voice on the other end of the line answers, “Bella Pizza! Can I take your order?”

“If it were Thursday and Sacerdote were Fibonnacci he would find the classifieds interesting,” Sinon replies.

He hangs up.

Session 3
Land of Confusion, part III

Last week, the cabal followed the trail of the missing tass and Dolph, its carrier, to a night clinic in Vancouver’s sketchy Downtown East area.  There they found a line of homeless and transient people waiting to enter.

Aurelia snuck in and underwent an “examination” by the Awakened nurse, then hustled into a back room with other patients, many of whom showed signs of some sort of odd skin affliction.

Session 2
Land of Confusion, Part II

When last we met: you four had met Montesquieu, the Provost to Vancouver’s Hierarch, and he laid out some current events for you.  There are too many Awakened in Vancouver, not enough Mana, and that’s causing tension.  He had you accompany him to a deal with Pitch, a freelance dealer in Tass.

Pitch and his bodyguard, Dolph, portaled into a deserted loading dock behind a discount electronics store in the borough of Richmond.  Everything was going according to plan until Dolph disappeared – and with him, the Tass that Montesquieu had bought.
